Message from the outgoing Executive Board, 2011-2013

June 18, 2013
Dear Colleagues,
As our Executive Board term draws to a close at the biennial meeting in Siena this week, we’re happy to report on two last items.
First, following the recommendation of the Journal Transition Committee, we have finalized and signed an agreement with the University of South Florida, which will serve as the host of our e-journal.
Genocide Studies and Prevention will now be an open access e-journal available for free to scholars and interested lay readers around the world. The Journal Transition Committee sent out a call for editors last week so things are moving along quickly as the new board takes office. Please do contact them if you are interested or know of others who you would like to nominate.
This brings us to our second matter of business. We are pleased to announce the election is finished and that the new boards will take office in Siena. Adam Jones, the head of the nominations committee, and Testushi Ogata, the outgoing Secretary-Treasurer, will announce the results in Siena and send out a message to the larger membership.
We’d also like to thank the members of the Advisory Board, the Journal Transition Committee, and the Resolutions Committee for all of their work during our term. Our thanks also go to the members of the By-laws Committee, Membership Committee, and Emerging Scholars/Education Committee for their efforts. And, last but not least, we’d like to express our appreciation to the conference organizers for all they have done.
For those going to Siena, we hope that you enjoy yourselves in this remarkable city and are sure you’ll find the proceedings engaging. We look forward to seeing you there.
Alex, Daniel, Geoff, Tetsushi, and Rafiki
